Fiddler on the Roof
I did set construction, painting, prop construction, and some costume sewing for this production of Fiddler on the roof. I also played the role of “Avram” the man in the village who read the news paper to everyone. The back walls were made of hard skinned flats that were secured to the deck with jacks. Then we made a raised platform 1.5 feet tall made out of our standard platforms with legs attached together. There was also a tall platform behind one of the walls with a ladder going to it; that was so the fiddler could be on the roof. We also extended out the stage about 10-15 feet (the star of david section) as well as a lane that connected to the stairs in the aisle. To do that we had to remove some of the seats in the center of the first two rows - it was interesting to see how the seats were bolted into the concrete. The wagons were also pretty fun to make.
