Pop up Terrain
This was a class project that something like “build a world in a box” turned more into a test run to make terrain that could hold mini figures and pop them up when it’s opened.
I did it by building an accordion shaped paper has multiple folds creating slits the figures can slide into. I found lining the folds that create the slits with clear tape makes the figures slide in nice and smooth.
The problem turns out to be linking the accordion paper to the top and bottom sheets as well as the wooden frame. The big problem is that it is extremely annoying to try and open up the base.
I still have some ideas I want to try for pop up terrain in the future, but I have to solve the more automated machining problem before I try to explore that avenue
